To Be Eligible for the Smart Thermostat Incentive:
- Must have a one-thermostat centralized home heating system using an existing electric forced-air furnace or air source heat pump.
- Installed by homeowner or HVAC contractor.
- Installed in an existing single-family or manufactured home.
- Purchase, install, and connect a new smart thermostat listed on the smart thermostat qualified product list.
- Register the thermostat as connected with the manufacturer.
After you’ve purchased and installed your qualifying smart thermostat, you can apply for the incentive by submitting the completed Smart Thermostat Project Information Form and a copy of your receipt that clearly indicates the manufacturer, brand, model number, and purchase date.

Communicating Line Voltage Thermostat Incentive – $35 per unit
Incentives are available to existing single-family and existing multifamily homes with zonal electric heating. There is no limit to the number of thermostats per housing unit; all existing bi-metal thermostats in a housing unit should be replaced.
The existing thermostat replaced must be bi-metal thermostats in existing electrically heated homes with resistance heat including baseboard, fan-forced wall heaters, or wall or ceiling radiant heat.
To Be Eligible for the Communicating Line Voltage Thermostat incentive:
- Be Wi-Fi enabled with remote access using a mobile device or computer.
- Be informed by an outdoor air temperature sensor or internet weather data.
- Are not bi-metal or are not mechanical or mechanical switching or do not have a mechanical temperature sensing element.
- Have a digital display
- Have 7-day programmable scheduling
- Have a temperature sensing element that is accurate to within 1.5 degrees Fahrenheit or better
- Have a thermistor temperature sensing element; and be UL- or CSA-listed for use with their application (e.g., fan-forced, baseboard, wall, or ceiling radiant)
After you’ve purchased and installed your qualifying thermostat, you can submit your receipt or contractor’s invoice showing equipment order date, installed costs, manufacturer and model number of all installed units.
