Rate Schedule Classifications
PenLight is an industry leader, serving the community with some of the lowest residential electricity rates in the nation. PLC’s residential rates are as low as 7 cents per kWh—about half of the Washington state average (12 cents) and roughly one-third of the U.S. average. Washington ranks second in the country for lowest average residential energy rates, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, largely because the state generates more electricity from hydropower than any other and accounts for 31% of the nation’s total utility-scale hydroelectric generation.
PenLight’s management and Board regularly assess business strategies to adapt to changing conditions that may impact the cooperative’s financial health and members’ lives. This ongoing evaluation supports timely, effective responses to emerging challenges, while maintaining a strong commitment to providing reliable, affordable electric and water services for the community.
Our rates are determined by the classification your service falls into: Residential, General or Commercial.
