National Drive Electric Week is Saturday, September 14 through Sunday, September 22. This nationwide celebration heightens awareness of today’s widespread availability of plug-in vehicles and highlights the benefits of all-electric and plug-in hybrid-electric vehicles. They are fun to drive, less expensive and more convenient to fuel than gasoline vehicles. EVs are better for the environment, promote local jobs and reduce our dependence on foreign oil.

people attending electric vehicle workshopThe Pacific Northwest is an ideal place to own an EV because most of our power comes from hydroelectric and other renewable energy resources. That means when you drive an EV, you replace your fossil fuels—gasoline and diesel—for energy coming from hydro, wind and, in some cases, solar power. Approximately 98% of the electricity provided to Peninsula Light members is carbon-free.

At the direction and interest of PenLight’s Board of Directors and staff, EV 101 workshops were introduced to our members in March 2019. The workshops were very well-received and PenLight intends to offer additional workshops, as well as more EV offers, in the future.
