In response to the unprecedented recent developments impacting our community, Harbor Christian Center, Communities In Schools Peninsula and other local organizations have come together to coordinate a response needed to support the efforts of service providers in the Key Peninsula and Gig Harbor area. This effort is titled Coordinated Community Care. With more than 50 different agencies, nonprofits, faith communities and civic organizations participating, Coordinated Community Care works to keep front line agencies and organizations of goodwill informed, working to eliminate duplication, while collaboratively meeting community needs. This effort includes a volunteer hub, which serves as a central location for volunteers from any agency, nonprofit, individual/ family, or faith community to register. These volunteer lists are sent to agencies and nonprofits in need of volunteer assistance. In addition, more than 20 faith communities in the Gig Harbor and Key Peninsula area are working together for better collaboration in meeting emergency financial needs for families. Like anything new, this is a work in progress. We aim to stay nimble and responsive, while meeting the needs identified by frontline agencies in our area.
