At PenLight, your vote matters.

Because PenLight is an electric cooperative, member-owned and operated, the democratic process allows members to vote in the annual cooperative board election.

As a cooperative, we encourage members to voice their thoughts and ideas. You have the opportunity to vote in the board of directors’ election and attend the annual meeting, where results for three open seats are announced.

Members maintain equal status and work together for the good of the community, adhering to these seven guiding principles:

  1. Voluntary and Open Membership
  2. Democratic Member Control
  3. Members’ Economic Participation
  4. Autonomy and Independence
  5. Education, Training, and Information
  6. Cooperation Among Cooperatives
  7. Concern for Community

Those elected to the board are fellow members who represent you and your voice in how your electric utility runs.

Ballots are mailed to PenLight members at the end of March and should be returned in the provided postage-paid return envelopes by the listed deadline.

The annual meeting is Monday, May 2, at 5:30 p.m. Meeting details will follow.

Election results will be announced, and the annual treasurer’s report will be presented. A question-and-answer session follows.
