Under the Electric Utility Resource Plans Law, RCW 19.280, PenLight is required to submit a resource plan every two years to the Washington Department of Commerce. The long-term plan forecasts PenLight’s loads for the next five and 10 years, and describes the resources it plans to use to serve those loads. DOC reports this data to the legislature, which it uses to assess the adequacy of the state’s electricity supply.
A public meeting was held via telephone conference on August 13, 2020, to receive public testimony and comment on PenLight’s 2020 resource plan. PenLight’s Board of Directors approved the plan at its regularly scheduled meeting on the same day. In September, PenLight submitted the approved plan to the DOC.
