The seventh annual RACE for a Soldier, supporting the Permission to Start Dreaming Foundation, is Sunday, Sept. 24, in Gig Harbor. Peninsula Light Co. is proud to once again serve as a mile sponsor.
More than 2,000 runners and walkers are expected to take to the streets to show their support for local veterans and their families who are recovering from posttraumatic stress disorder, PTSD. We run because the longest journey many of our veterans face is not the plane ride home from distant battlefields, but the struggle they face after returning home.
Runners and walkers can register online for either a 5K (3 miles) or half-marathon (13.1 miles). All participants receive a commemorative T-shirt and medal.
