The Season of Giving

As the holiday season approaches and the air turns crisp, we’re reminded that this is the season of giving–a time for gratitude, generosity, and caring for one another. At PenLight, that spirit isn’t limited to the holidays. Giving back and supporting our community is at the heart of who we are, all year long.

As a member-owned cooperative, we exist not only to provide reliable power but to serve and strengthen the communities we share. Through partnerships, programs, and everyday kindness, our members and employees embody cooperation and care.

1 of the best examples of this generosity is our Project Help program. Funded through voluntary member donations that are matched by the company, Project Help provides bill assistance to local families who need extra help with electric costs. Every dollar given stays right here in our community, and every contribution makes a meaningful difference.

We also invest in the next generation through scholarships for local high school students, support for school athletic programs, and sponsorship of the Greater Gig Harbor Foundation’s Students of Distinction. These efforts open doors for young people and strengthen the sense of teamwork and community that make our area so special. 13820

Our team also takes pride in providing electrical safety education to schools and community groups, helping people of all ages learn how to stay safe around electricity. Knowledge is one of the most valuable gifts we can share, and we’re honored to build a safer, more informed community.

Beyond education, we’re deeply committed to supporting organizations that serve our community every day. We donate annually to Food Backpacks 4 Kids, sponsoring the program monthly as the “Cheese Sponsor” to ensure families have reliable access to food. We also partner with Rotary and Kiwanis clubs, the Downtown Waterfront Alliance, and community-centered groups, such as Key Peninsula Community Services, the Key Peninsula Business Association, the Gig Harbor Chamber of Commerce, and Gig Harbor PenMet and Key Pen Parks. Each partnership reflects our shared goal of keeping our community vibrant, welcoming, and connected. 25064

Outside of work, you’ll find PenLight employees–many of whom are also members–volunteering across Gig Harbor and the Key Peninsula, coaching youth sports, supporting local events, and helping make our community stronger.

While the holidays bring joy, they can also bring challenges. If you’re concerned about your energy bill or want to learn about assistance options, please reach out. Our Member Services team is here to help with compassion and understanding.

At PenLight, concern for community is more than a principle–it’s our purpose.

This season and all year long, thank you for being part of what makes our community so special.

From all of us at Peninsula Light Company, we wish you and your loved ones a joyful, safe, and bright holiday season.
