As the holiday season invites a time of reflection, we at Peninsula Light Company (Penlight) are reminded of our deep sense of mission and purpose. Our team is closely connected to the community and our members because we, too, call this area home.
While storm season and outage response ramp up during this time of year, we want to highlight several programs and services designed to support our members year-round.
1 of the most convenient tools we offer is PenLight’s SmartHub, our web portal or mobile app that keeps you informed and can show you how to save time and money with access to your bill at any time. You can also track and compare your energy usage trends. We also offer PrePay, a flexible way to budget your energy costs. With PrePay, you pay for electricity upfront and use it until the credit runs out. Throughout this period, you’ll receive regular updates on your balance.
In addition, we provide a range of energy-efficiency programs to help you save both energy and money. For more information on current options, please reach out to our team by emailing the Energy Specialist.
We’re also proud of our Project HELP program, which assists vulnerable members of our community with their energy bills. By choosing to “round up” your monthly bill to the nearest dollar, you can contribute to this fund and help those in need. Looking ahead, we’re focused on the future. In our region, there is growing interest in renewable energy, and recent innovations have made these sources more affordable and accessible. As part of our commitment to sustainability, PenLight has made significant strides in incorporating renewable energy into our fuel mix. Today, 95% of the energy we provide comes from renewable sources, with hydroelectric power making up the majority.
But beyond energy, the most important investment we make is in our local youth. PenLight proudly supports schools, youth clubs, sports teams, and many other community organizations. We also offer scholarships to local students, investing in the future leaders of our community. 65780
