Innovation With Purpose
In recent years, PenLight has taken proactive steps to manage rising costs while continuing to deliver reliable, affordable power. 1 example is the creation of a for-profit subsidiary under PLC Energy. Launched 8 years ago, this initiative allows PenLight to offer consulting services to other utilities - leveraging the expertise of our own staff.
By generating additional revenue through market-based consulting fees, this model helps offset inflationary pressures and reduces the need for large rate increases recently seen by surrounding utilities. It’s a strategic approach that reflects both innovation and fiscal responsibility - ensuring members benefit directly from the organization’s expertise.
Driving Efficiency & Modernization
Teams are continuously identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and modernize operations - whether upgrading internal systems, enhancing outage communication tools, or streamlining processes. The focus remains the same: make it easier, faster, and more accessible for members to connect with their cooperative.
