Preparing for Storm Season

A Guide for Peninsula Light Company (PenLight) Members

Storm season often brings weather that damages equipment and causes outages.

As we enter storm season in the Pacific Northwest, PenLight wants to ensure our members are prepared for the challenges of winter storms.

From high winds and heavy rain to snow and ice, our region often experiences weather that can affect power lines, cause outages, and disrupt daily life. Here are tips to help you prepare and keep your family safe.

1. Review Your Emergency Plan

Storms can bring unexpected power outages, so it’s essential to have a plan:

  • Communication: Designate an out-of-area emergency contact.
  • Evacuation: Know your routes and safe locations.
  • Emergency supplies: Stock up on essentials like a first-aid kit, nonperishable food, water, flashlights and medications.

2. Prepare For Power Outages

At PenLight, we strive to keep the lights on, but outages can occur. Be ready:

  • Stock up: Have extra batteries, candles, and a battery-powered radio. Check your generator and fuel supply. 51723

Minimize storm damage with these steps:
