PenLight Celebrates Community Spirit at Annual Maritime Parade

PenLight celebrating a milestone year

What a day to remember! Thank you to everyone who helped make the annual Maritime Gig Festival Parade such a memorable event. It was a joy for us at Peninsula Light Company to celebrate alongside our members, neighbors, and friends during this milestone year.

PenLight’s participation in the parade wasn’t just symbolic; it was also hands-on and homegrown. For the first time ever, we introduced a brand-new float, designed and built entirely in-house using repurposed materials by our talented and creative team to reflect our commitment to sustainability, innovation, and doing more with less.

The event also offers something even more special behind the scenes—the chance for employees and their families to bond outside of work. From parade preparations to walking the parade route side by side, this experience always brings people together in a fun, meaningful way, reinforcing the strong sense of connection that runs through the heart of our organization.

At PenLight, community involvement has always been at the heart of our values. Whether through local events, service projects, or simply showing up to support our neighbors, we believe in being an active and positive part of the place we call home.

“This parade wasn’t just a celebration—it was a reflection of who we are,” said CEO Jafar Taghavi. “We’re a utility built by the community, for the community, and we’re proud to walk beside our members—literally and figuratively—into our next 100 years.”

Thank you again for cheering us on and for being part of our 100-year story. We had a blast, and we hope you did too!
