Each April, utilities across the country recognize Lineworker Appreciation Month - a time to acknowledge the men and women who work every day to keep power flowing safely and reliably to the communities they serve. This month holds special meaning for Peninsula Light Co., as we recognize the dedication, skill, and commitment of our line crews. 455866
Lineworkers play a critical role in maintaining and improving the electric system that serves our members. Their work includes building and maintaining power lines, responding to outages, upgrading equipment, and ensuring the system remains strong and reliable for the future. Much of this work happens behind the scenes, but it is essential to keeping the lights on for homes, schools, and businesses throughout our service area.
When severe weather or unexpected events occur, PenLight lineworkers are often the first to respond and the last to leave. Storms, high winds, falling trees, and icy conditions can create difficult and sometimes dangerous working environments. No matter the hour, day, or night, our crews work tirelessly until power is safely restored. Long hours and challenging conditions are part of the job, but the commitment to restoring service to members remains the top priority.
What makes PenLight especially proud is that many of our lineworkers are not just employees - they are also members of the cooperative and active participants in the communities we serve. They live here, raise their families here, volunteer, coach youth sports, and support local events. When they respond to an outage, they are helping their neighbors and friends.
Their work reflects the cooperative spirit that PenLight was built on: neighbors helping neighbors. From routine maintenance to responding during major storms, our line crews remain focused on maintaining, strengthening, and improving the electric system that powers our community. 45524
This Lineworker Appreciation Month, we extend our sincere gratitude to the PenLight lineworkers who work safely and diligently every day to serve our members. Their dedication, professionalism, and commitment ensure that when the lights go out, someone is always ready to restore them.
