Gig Harbor’s annual summer kick-off celebration is the Maritime Gig Fest, held the first weekend in June each year along the waterfront of our picturesque fishing village. First settled by immigrants who made their livelihoods on Puget Sound waterways and beyond, the event honors the rich heritage of our community. Each year, Maritime Gig Fest starts early Saturday morning with the annual Kiwanis Breakfast at 8 AM, held in front of 7 Seas Brewing on Judson Street. A fun run lines up less than an hour later, so you can work off all those pancakes! At 10 AM, the Yo Ho Harbor Grande Parade gets underway, traveling along Harborview from Donkey Creek Park to Tides Tavern. Local businesses and organizations join the parade and the streets are filled with excited festival-goers.
A street fair, local music, and food vendors are featured throughout the weekend. Sunday’s main event is the traditional Blessing of the Fleet in Gig Harbor bay. To learn more, visit the Chamber of Commerce website.
