Pierce County Council Proclamation
On Tuesday, July 7, the Pierce County Council formally honored PenLight with a proclamation celebrating 100 years of powering the Gig Harbor and Key Peninsula areas. Councilmembers praised PenLight for its member-owned structure, longstanding reliability, and investment in local infrastructure and safety. The city of Gig Harbor also recognized PenLight during its July 14 city council meeting, presenting a proclamation that acknowledges the utility’s deep roots and critical contributions to the city’s growth and vitality. Mayor Mary Barber and councilmembers commended PenLight for its community-first approach and historic role in helping shape Gig Harbor into the vibrant city it is today. PenLight board members and staff were present to receive the honor and reflect on a century of local partnership.
Gig Harbor Chamber of Commerce Recognition
At its July 10 luncheon, the Gig Harbor Chamber of Commerce took time to honor PenLight's centennial milestone. Chamber leadership shared remarks celebrating PenLight’s role as both an essential service provider and a trusted community partner. From sponsoring local events to supporting small businesses and nonprofits, PenLight has consistently been an engaged and visible presence in the region. Chamber members applauded PenLight’s 100 years of service with a standing ovation, marking a proud moment of shared history and local pride.
