At Peninsula Light Co., member participation is essential. As a member-owned electric cooperative, we value the democratic process that gives every member an equal voice. 1 of the most important ways to participate is by voting in PenLight’s annual Board of Directors election.
PenLight follows democratic member control, meaning each member can help guide the cooperative’s future. This is based on 7 cooperative principles:
- Voluntary and Open Membership
- Democratic Member Control
- Members’ Economic Participation
- Autonomy and Independence
- Education, Training, and Information
- Cooperation Among Cooperatives
- Concern for Community
These principles show PenLight is more than an electric utility - it’s a community-driven organization. By voting in the Board election, members help ensure leadership reflects shared interests and long-term needs.
This year’s Board election runs from March 30 to April 27. PenLight partners with Survey & Ballot Systems, an independent vendor, to ensure a secure, fair, and confidential process. Ballots will be mailed at the end of March and should be returned in the provided postage-paid envelope by the listed deadline. Please do not include your PenLight bill payment in the ballot envelope. Mail each separately.
PenLight’s Annual Meeting is Monday, May 4, with election results, the Treasurer’s Report, and the CEO’s State of the Utility presentation.
Member participation strengthens PenLight and supports our cooperative values that guide our work every day. For questions, contact PenLight’s Board Administrator at (253) 857-1567. We appreciate our members’ involvement and look forward to your participation.
