Back to Our Roots: A Timeless Symbol Returns

As we proudly conclude our Centennial Celebration, PenLight is honored to reintroduce our original Peninsula Light Company logo - a bold symbol that reflects the strength, reliability, and community spirit that have defined our cooperative for more than a century.

This iconic emblem is permanently showcased at our original headquarters site in the heart of downtown Gig Harbor, now home to the Harbor History Museum. It serves as a reminder of where PenLight’s journey began and the generations of members, employees, and community leaders who built the cooperative we know today.

As we transition from our Centennial branding, we’re introducing a refreshed family of logo variations that thoughtfully blend the best of PenLight’s past and present. Our original logo is paired with the familiar hand-sketched lightning bolt - created in-house and long associated with the PenLight brand - to honor the creativity and contributions of employees throughout our history.

These marks are further complemented by our recently introduced illustrated landscape design, which features recognizable landmarks, shorelines and natural elements unique to the communities we serve. Together, these design elements represent more than our service territory - they represent the people, places, and history that make PenLight a community-owned cooperative.

The combination of our original logo, the hand-drawn lightning bolt, and our local landscape creates a visual identity rooted in heritage, strengthened by innovation, and united by community. As we begin our next century of service, these symbols remind us that while our look may evolve, our commitment to the communities we call home remains as strong as ever.
