downed power linesWe are not strangers to storms here in the Pacific Northwest, especially those with high winds that can bring down limbs, trees and power lines. Your safety is important to us, so we are sharing a few safety tips to remember during storm season.

  • If you see a downed power line, always assume it is energized and dangerous. Avoid going near downed lines or anything in contact with a downed line.
  • Downed power lines can energize the ground up to 35 feet way, so keep your distance.
  • Never drive over a downed line or through water that is touching the line. Water is a conductor for electricity.
  • If you see a downed line, notify local authorities immediately.
  • Never try to move a downed power line, even if you think the line is not energized or if you are using a non conductive item. This will NOT prevent injury or death!
