Welcome to Peninsula Light Company

Peninsula Light Co. is a member owned electric cooperative located in Gig Harbor, WA. Since 1925, the utility has been serving the Gig Harbor and Key Peninsulas, and Fox Island in Western Pierce County. PenLight is a “full requirements utility” of the Bonneville Power Administration. The utility has grown to be the second largest cooperative in the Northwest, serving over 31,000 meters with 977 miles of line and 112 square miles of service territory. The company also provides service to 3,230 water consumers.

The Board of Directors Nominating Committee is now accepting applications for upcoming Board positions to be voted upon in March 2015. More information and fillable application forms are available by clicking Become a Board Member or by calling Margaret Ensley at 253.857.1582.

All applicants must be permanent residents in PenLight’s service territory and members in good standing.  Applications must be received no later than noon on December 31, 2014.


SolarSystemIcon Peninsula Light Co. started a demonstration solar project in 2006 along with Bonneville Power Administration, and we updated our solar inverter to the latest technology in August 2014. Twenty solar panels were installed to comprise a 4,000-watt photovoltaic system on the west side of PenLight’s headquarters. Click to see live solar production totals.
